Year Up is an intensive, one-year technology-training program for Diablo Valley College
students that combines hands-on skill development with professional internships at
some of the Bay Area’s top companies. While earning 32 credits during the program,
you will be on career tracks in Information Technology or Project Management. During
the first term of the program, you will register and take courses with your Year Up
Learning Community. In your second term, you will spend approximately 35 hours/week
at a professional internship at one of Year Up’s 50+ corporate partners – organizations
like Salesforce, Twitter, GE Digital, Workday, and Bank of the West.
You can apply to be a Year Up student if you are:
18-29 years old
High school graduate or GED recipient
Have the legal right to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, DACA registered,
or have an employment authorization card)
Enrolled or interested in enrolling at Diablo Valley College
Interested in a career in the tech industry
Of low to moderate income
What does it cost?
There is no cost to participate in the Year Up. The only investment is your time and
commitment to success! In fact, Year Up students receive a stipend throughout the
life of the program: up to $200/month during your first term and up to $1000/month
during your internship.
After you create an account you will be prompted to your Year Up student portal. This is where you will submit your application, sign up for your interview, and take
care of onboarding items if you are conditionally accepted to the program.
