We have two primary veteran counselors, Alberto Aranda and Todd Steffan. We are currently implementing a Case Management Approach for our counseling appointments, wherein the allocation of students between counselors is based on last names. Counselor Alberto Aranda will exclusively handle students with last names starting with A-J, while Counselor Todd Steffan will assist students with last names starting with K-Z.
Our Case Management Model offers several advantages to our veteran and dependent students:
Personalized Support: This model ensures a more individualized approach to your academic journey, understanding your unique experiences and needs.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Regular checks on your academic progress help us identify concerns early and implement appropriate interventions if necessary.
Timely Responses: This model enables faster responses to your inquiries and provides guidance on other academic matters.
Enhanced Experience: Our ultimate goal is to enhance your overall experience at DVC, and we believe the Case Management Model will contribute to that goal.
Feel free to contact us for any further assistance or to schedule your counseling appointment. -

I truly believe I would drop out if not for the SVRC. The community and the safe space it provides are what keep me going.

The SVRC has given me purpose. After leaving the service, I was searching for a new adventure, and the SVRC made it possible for me to get involved both on campus and in the community. Through their support, I’ve also been connected with incredible resources and services that continue to help me succeed.

Getting connected with the SVRC has brought me closer to my mom. Growing up, my childhood was filled with memories of being surrounded by military personnel, and the SVRC has given me a way to reconnect with that part of my life. Here, I’ve found my community and a second home. My peers have become my friends, and I truly feel like I belong.
