Career Focus Magazine

DVC Magazine spotlights Diablo Valley College's exceptional career education programs that meet the education and training needs of Bay area residents and businesses.

Kids & Community Programs

DVC offers non-degree classes and programs that provide kids and members of the local community with opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

Community of Pride

LGBTQIA+ students: join a Community of Pride! Take classes on queer-specific content and build community with like-minded students and instructors.

Computer Labs

DVC offers over 40 computer labs across both campuses, with open labs for charging, printing, and computer use outside class. Many labs also have "Zoom Zones" for attending online classes.

Learning by Doing – Connecting Education to Work

DVC career education programs integrate hands-on learning right in the classroom. Students also have many options to learn in a work setting. This is referred to as work-based learning. During the pandemic, some DVC faculty had to get creative, offering virtual experiential learning rather than in-person opportunities. But with a greater number of classes being held on-campus in fall 2021, students will be able to enjoy the hands-on experiences they have become accustomed to at DVC.

Puente Gives Stephanie Confidence to Achieve Her Dreams

As a high school senior, Stephanie Ramos Navarro had no idea what she wanted out of life. She was certain that she wanted to pursue an education but was unclear which direction to take. And she was about to be the first (out of 32 grandchildren) in her family to set foot on a college campus. After sharing her uncertainty and fears with her teachers at Ygnacio Valley High School, she was guided to DVC. “They helped me understand my alternatives, and within a few months, I registered as a full-time student.”

Breaking Barriers, Inspiring Potential: DVC Special Education Students Empower Others

“The special education program prepares students for a rewarding career working with children and adults with special needs. Students learn teaching strategies for the special education paraprofessional, study psychology and child development, and gain practical work experience,” said Carrie Million, who focuses on assistive technology and special education at DVC as a member of the Disability Support Services (DSS) faculty.
