Transfer to a California State University (CSU)

CSU Transfer Requirements

  1. Satisfy the "Golden Four" as soon as possible by completing one of each course:
      1. Written Communication: ENGL 122 (122A, 122L also acceptable)
      2. Oral Communication: COMM 120, 123, 130
      3. Critical Thinking: ARTHS 191, COMM 121, 123; ENGL 123, 126; HIST 122; PHILO 130, 170; PSYCH 145; SOCIO 122
      4. Math: BUS 240; MATH 121, 124, 125, 135, 135SP*, 142, 144, 181, 182, 183, 191, 192, 194, 195, 292, 294 - NOTE: Some AP scores of 3 or higher meet the Math requirement (see CSU GE for more information).
  2. Complete at least 60 CSU transferable semester units with a CSU transferable GPA of 2.0 or higher.* 30 units must come from general education (GE: CSUGE or IGETC*) with grades of "C" or better. Completion deadlines vary by application term, but typically are by the end of Spring for Fall transfers and end of Summer for Spring transfers. The major, campus, and/or application may state that they require a higher GPA and major preparation courses on www.assist.org if it is a competitive/impacted campus or program - see a counselor to discuss how this applies to you and if earning an Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) in a similar major benefits your situation.*
  3. Apply! All CSU's begin accepting applications for the following Fall term starting October 1. For deadlines and information about other terms, click on "Dates and Deadlines" below.
