All new, returning, transfer and high school students entering DVC should complete the following steps:
We recognize that different student populations have different needs. There are other steps and services that may serve you and should be explored.
First time students including graduating seniors
DVC highly recommends new entering students complete English and math assessment testing and register for Couns-095 Orientation. These are completed late in the term prior to when you intend to start, so it is important to submit your application for the prior term. For example, if you intend to start classes in fall, you should apply for summer to that you may assess and register for a summer Couns-095 class in preparation for selecting your fall schedule.
When selecting your schedule, make sure to note any course prerequisites. They are courses you must pass prior to registering the desired course. You should submit your prerequisite form and proof to Admissions at least 3 business days prior to your registration date to avoid registration delays.
Every student that applies is issued a permanent student ID# and is granted a login to our InSite portal, which houses both the WebAdvisor registration system and your college issued email address. This InSite email address will be the primary method of contact and notifications from the college, so you will want to login as soon as you are granted access.
Returning and transfer students
Returning and transfer students are encouraged to attend orientation, however may elect to waive or exempt themselves. The Transfer Orientation form is available to students who have already attended some college, and the Orientation Exemption form is available to student's who have been awarded an AA/S degree or higher. Submitting either of these forms completes your matriculation process, and your registration date will reflect that.
If you attended a college outside our district, you will want to submit official transcripts for each institution for your permanent record. If you need to satisfy prerequisites, submit the prerequisite form with proof attached to the Admissions office at least 3 business days prior to your registration date to avoid registration delays. Please attach proof to the prerequisite form regardless of whether you already submitted a transcript.
