Welcome to Plumbing

Welcome to the DVC Plumbing program!

We’re excited that you’ve found your way to the Plumbing Program at Diablo Valley College—where education meets opportunity, and your future in the trades begins.

Plumbing is more than pipes and fixtures—it's a high-demand, high-skill profession with excellent career potential. At DVC, we offer a pre-apprenticeship advantage that gives you a competitive edge. You’ll enter the workforce with real skills, a solid understanding of the trade, and a direct path into apprenticeship programs or employment.

This isn’t just a classroom experience—it’s one of the best and most diverse learning environments in plumbing. Whether you're drawn to commercial or residential plumbing, you’ll train in both. One week you might be roughing in pipes for a large-scale facility; the next, you could be learning to install fixtures in a residential remodel. Depending on your interests, we’ll help steer your training toward the path that fits you best.

Hands-on, real-world training is the core of what we do. Many of our students are already working in the field while taking classes—applying what they learn on the job, then returning to the classroom with valuable questions and insight. Our combination of lectures, homework, and field experience helps students connect the dots—understanding not just what to do, but why it matters, and how everything fits together.

Thanks to strong relationships with Bay Area trades and employers, we offer direct pathways to employment. Whether through internships, apprenticeships, or direct job placements, our program connects students with real opportunities—and real careers.

And you’ll train using the best tools in the business. Our students have access to state-of-the-art training facilities, including those at Local 342 and Local 159—giving you firsthand experience with the same equipment and standards used by professional plumbers across the region.

If you're ready to learn by doing, develop essential trade skills, and prepare for a stable, respected, and rewarding career—there’s no better place to start than right here.

Sincerely,

Shawn Kammerer
