Getting Started Online

The quick tips below will help you successfully start your online course.

Online Learning Tips


    • Check your course start dates and your Ed Plan to understand course details and plan your semester.
    • Check your InSite email for correspondence from the school and/or your instructor.
    • Review any required materials for your class and visit the bookstore online. 
  • Complete our Canvas Expert and Online Success Badges to prepare for using Canvas and taking courses online.

    • Log into Canvas. Your course shells will be available on your course start date.  
    • Scan course modules for content, assignments, and due dates. Students will need to complete any work due in the first weeks to maintain their course enrollment.  
    • Regularly check Canvas Inbox for communications from instructors and peers. 
    • Students who attend office hours learn more, better connect, and achieve academic success.  
    • Look at syllabus and course information on Canvas to locate office hour details.  
    • Communicate regularly with your professor.

    • Engage in discussions by creating meaningful conversation.
    • Use Canvas inbox to communicate around coursework.
    • When available, create opportunities for online collaboration.
