With this appointment, Dr. Chahal becomes the first Sikh American president in the California Community College system.
“I am honored to join the amazing team at DVC,” said Dr. Chahal. “We share a commitment to ensuring student access and success, and I know that together we will continue to build upon DVC’s legacy and reputation of excellence and service to our students and community. I am excited to begin my work with the DVC family and its surrounding communities.”
Dr. Chahal holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from UC Davis, a master’s in English from CSU Sacramento, and a bachelor’s in English from UC Davis. The daughter of immigrant public school teachers, she credits her Sikh American heritage and family’s dedication to education as the foundation of her leadership.
Her student-focused vision and deep institutional knowledge make her an inspiring addition to the DVC community.
