Short-Term Academic Study Away Programs (STASAP) are offered during the winter break or in the summer session. Some courses may have components that will be fulfilled at your home campus or online. These programs differ from the district's existing semester long study abroad programs in that they are shorter in duration and you do not have to be a full-time student.
A short-term study away program may be right for you! Students and faculty alike find these programs to be both transformative and richly rewarding.
In Seville the city’s history and legends come to life in narrow streets and quaint courtyards. Then board the ferry to Africa, just a short ride across the Strait of Gibraltar, arriving in Morocco’s city of Tangier. In this incredible country, discover the Indigo-blue streets and painted Medina in Chefchaouen, the “Blue City” of Morocco. In Fez, the “Mecca of the West,” explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and other art objects of Morocco.
Experience a truly nomadic way of life, camel trekking with a professional Berber team and visit the nomadic people who still live in the desert. This unique experience takes you into the heart of the Moroccan Desert to learn about a culture and lifestyle that rarely exists today.
Marrakech marches to its own beat. Throw yourself in at the deep end by exploring the twisting alleyways of the medieval medina, a fortified city within a city. Finally, before returning home, enjoy the last day in Seville where you’ll end your incredible journey through the treasures and mysteries of Spain and Morocco.
The Puebla, Mexico program has been postponed. Please check back in fall 2022 for updates.
Students in DVC's first Study Away program visited Machu Pichu and other locations in Peru, in the summer 2019 term.
