Parent orientations are offered for the College for Kids program for the Pleasant Hill campus only due to the size of the campus and logistics. One to two orientations are offered in May and/or June from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The same information is presented at each orientation. Only register for one of the dates, not both. Both parents and students must pre-register. All College for Kids registration opens on April 10.
For San Ramon, parents will receive information via email regarding procedures for that campus prior to the first day. (We may start offering one parent orientation at the San Ramon campus in 2019. Please check our online catalog for any updates.)
All parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves and their child with the campus where their child will be attending prior to the first day of class.
College for Kids has chosen its instructors carefully to ensure subject matter expertise and skill in working with young people. Many were referred by teachers and administrators in local schools or by DVC staff and faculty.
Note: All College for Kids staff members (instructors and aides) are fingerprinted and cleared through the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as the Department of Justice.
Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A student can sign up for one, two or three classes each week, but classes must be consecutively scheduled. A student may not sign up for 1st and 3rd periods only. College for Kids does not provide supervision outside of class time.
Note: Classes begin and end on different weeks throughout our summer from mid-June to end of July (no classes on July 4). When planning your child's summer schedule, please pay close attention to dates, times, and fees, as there may be changes from summer to summer. Classes with the same title in sessions 1 and 2 are the SAME class not a continuation.
For times and dates for our Pleasant Hill and San Ramon Campus, please check out our registration website for exact times.
Classes range from $65 to $150. Tuition is due at the time of registration.

Students who wish to drop a class must do so no less than close of business day 7 days prior to the start date of the class (no partial refunds are given, this is a self -support program that relies on fees) or they will not receive a refund. For example, a class that starts on June 19, must be dropped by close of business (5PM) on June 12. Please note that classes start on different weeks, which will change the drop deadline. Please allow 2-4 weeks to receive a refund, depending on payment method.
