General Information for College for Kids

COVID-19 updates

College for Kids Summer 2021 in collaboration with state and local health departments will be following and implementing CDC considerations to protect students, teachers, administrators, and staff and help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Health and safety actions in place:

  • Promote healthy hygiene practices 
  • Intensify cleaning, disinfecting, and ventilation of our facilities
  • Encourage social distancing through increased spacing, smaller class size, and staggered drop off and pick up zones
  • Adjust activities and procedures to limit sharing of items
  • Training all employees on health and safety protocols

Ongoing monitoring: 

A daily “self-checker” email will be sent to registered participants (checklist prior to coming on campus-

  • Implementation of procedures to check for signs and symptoms in students and employees
  • Encourage anyone who is sick to stay home
  • Plan for if students or employees get sick
  • Regularly communicate and monitor developments with local authorities, employees, and families regarding cases, exposures, and updates to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor students and employees’ absences and have flexible leave policies and practices.
  • Being ready to consult with local health authorities if there are cases in the facility or an increase in cases in local area

Noticing protocol

If College for Kids is notified that any participant is kept home as a result of displaying COVID-19 symptoms, an advisory email will be sent to parents.

If College for Kids is notified that a participant or a member of the participant’s immediate family has tested positive for COVID-19, two different advisory emails will be sent:

  1. Direct contact– For students who shared classes with the affected participant. Advisory email communicating that the participant has had direct contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 or lives with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  2. Possible contact - All other participants. Advisory email that an individual that is part of the program has tested positive for COVID-19 or lives with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Refund policy – COVID 19 special circumstance

If a program participant or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, a partial refund will be credited to your original payment method, based on the number of days of attendance. College for Kids will withdraw the participant from the program.

If your child comes in direct contact with another participant or a participant with a member of household who has tested positive for COVID-19, College for Kids will permit withdrawal from the program and provide a partial refund, based on the number of days of attendance.

Parent orientation

Orientation will be June 3rd from 5pm-6:15pm via Zoom. Parents MUST register online. Email us at for questions. 

All parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves and their child with the campus where their child will be attending prior to the first day of class. This can be done at your own convenience and pace. 

About our instructors

College for Kids has chosen its instructors carefully to ensure subject matter expertise and skill in working with young people. Many were referred by teachers and administrators in local schools or by DVC staff and faculty.

Note: All College for Kids staff members (instructors and aides) are fingerprinted and cleared through the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as the Department of Justice.

Scheduling your child for College for Kids

Note: When planning your child's summer schedule, please pay close attention to dates, times, and fees, as there may be changes from summer to summer. Classes with the same title in sessions 1 and 2 are the SAME class not  a continuation.

Class times  

Pleasant Hill Campus 

  • Period 1: 12:50pm-1:50pm
  • Period 2: 2:00pm-3:00pm
  • Period 3: 3:10pm-4:10pm 

San Ramon Campus

  • Period 1: 12:55pm-1:55pm
  • Period 2: 2:00pm-3:00pm
  • Period 3: 3:05pm-4:05pm 


Classes range from $75 to $175. Tuition is due at the time of registration.

Class size

Classes with enrollment less than five students may be subject to cancellation by College for Kids, even as late as the week of start. All students are enrolled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Campus and classroom behavior

Families and students are expected to follow the rules of the campus and program and to conduct themselves in a manner that facilitates safety and the learning process. Disruptive students will be dismissed from the program. No skateboards, scooters, or roller blades allowed on campus at any time.  For security reasons, visitors and family members are not permitted in the classroom.

Refund policy

Students who wish to drop a class must do so no less than close of business day seven days prior to the start date of the class (no partial refunds are given,this is a self -support program that relies on fees) or they will not receive a refund. For example, a class that starts on June 15 , must be dropped by close of business (5pm) on June 8 Please allow 2-4 weeks to receive a refund, depending on payment method.


Transportation, parking, pick-up and drop-off information

Parents are entirely responsible for students' transportation.  College for Kids is not responsible for citations served by DVC Police Services.

Pleasant Hill Campus

  • Drop off and pick up will be designated by zone on the Pleasant Hill Campus. Staff members will be at those lots before and after each period to ensure the safety of every student as they arrive and depart. College for Kids is not responsible for students who are dropped off and/or picked up in other lots. 
  • We have coordinated with Police Services to allow a drive-thru procedure. For the safety of kids and other pedestrians, please follow the directions from CFK staff and Police Services to avoid injury. Remember kids and college students will be in the parking lots getting to and from class and they can be difficult to see from behind the wheel of your car.
  • Parents please check back regularly on our web site for updates on parking procedures at the Pleasant Hill campus.

San Ramon Campus

  • The San Ramon campus is located in the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon at 1690 Watermill Road. The drop off and pick up location is in the NORTH parking. A staff member will be available during drop off and pick up times. 

Pick up

Pleasant Hill Campus

Parents are expected to pick up their children no later than 15 minutes after their last class at their designated zone.For students whose last class ends at 4:10 pm and are not picked up by 4:25 pm will be escorted to Police Services in LOT 1.

Parents:  If your child is only enrolled in a class(es) during 1st and/or 2nd periods, please direct your child to lots 1 or 3 for pick-up.  Please do not make any other pick up arrangements with your child.  If you are running late (arriving 10 minutes after your child's last class), please have your child go to Police Services in lot 1 for pick up.  

If there is an unexpected emergency which will delay pick-up, please call the College for Kids office at 925-969-4600 (before 4:30 pm) or the Police Services at 925-969-2785 (after 4:30 pm). Your child will be notified and will be waiting for you at Campus Police Services.

San Ramon Campus

Attendance and unforeseen circumstances

Please report any absences or late arrivals to the College for Kids office as soon as possible by emailing or calling 925-969-4600 (you can leave a voicemail).  Our office will not contact families regarding any absences or late arrivals.

Parents who need to pick their child up early for any reason must sign them out at the CFK office (L-146). This is for security reasons and your child's safety.  Please call the office in advance, so a staff member can have your child ready for you.
