computer scienceAre you a high school senior ready to explore areas of interest for college? At DVC we offer you college credit during the spring semester of your senior year! Find out how to develop your skills to become a successful, fulfilled professional. Read on to learn about how we prepare you for a career path and transfer. 

This special program focuses on providing you the knowledge or tools to build: 

  • academic, professional confidence
  • ability to overcome failures and doubts, and 
  • relationships for college and career success

Program structure


Spring in high school:

  • DVC Career 101: College & Career Success II (1.5 unit) 
  • Welcome and Orientation Event

Summer blast:

  • Internship 
  • DVC Work Experience Course (2 units) 
  • Majors Exposed 
  • Early Connection to Learning Communities 
  • Staff Support

First year at DVC:

  • Career Skills Development
  • Internship Opportunities
  • Staff Support
  • Industry Visits

Second year at DVC:

  • Transfer Opportunities
  • Career Exploration
  • Internship Opportunities
  • Staff Support

Eligibility

  • A senior or mid-year graduate from one of the following high schools: Concord, Mt. Diablo, Olympic, or Ygnacio Valley 
  • Committed to going to school full-time at DVC, and  
  • Able to commit to program expectations.

Ideal candidate

  • First in their family to go to college, 
  • Curious about where DVC can take them,
  • Still deciding on what to do with their future,
  • Not sure if they can afford college,
  • Passionate about giving back to their community
