Find out how to develop your skills to become a successful, fulfilled professional. Read on to learn about how we prepare you for a career path and transfer. 

This special program focuses on providing you the knowledge or tools to build: 

  • academic, professional confidence,
  • ability to overcome failures and doubts, 
  • relationships for college and career success, and
  • problem-solving skills.

Program structure

Spring in high school:

  • DVC Career 100: College & Career Success (1.5 unit) 
  • Welcome and Orientation Event
  • Staff Support

Summer blast:

  • Internship 
  • Majors Exposed 
  • Early Connection to Learning Communities 
  • Staff Support

First year at DVC:

  • Professional Speaker Series
  • Internship Opportunities
  • Staff Support

Second year at DVC:

  • Transfer Opportunities
  • Career Exploration

  • A senior or mid-year graduate  from one of the following high schools: Concord, Mt. Diablo, Olympic, or Ygnacio Valley 
  • Committed to going to school full-time at DVC, and  
  • Able to commit to program expectations.

Ideal candidate

  • Someone who may feel that college is out of their reach,
  • First in their family to go to college, 
  • Curious about where DVC can take them,
  • Still deciding on what to do with their future,
  • Not sure if they can afford college,
  • Passionate about giving back to their community
