Scan one Canvas module for Red and Orange Ally gauges

Accessibility Goal of the Week

Last week we were introduced to Where Do I Begin With Accessibility?, a three-step roadmap for beginning the journey to fully accessible content.  Our task was to read through the document and get a sense of its contents.

This week, we will start Step 1 of Where Do I Begin With Accessibility? with one Canvas module.  We can use a handy Ally Gauge Inventory to guide our work.

    1. Select one module in your course and click through it page by page, scanning for any Ally gauges.  Clicking page by page is the best way to make sure you spot all the gauges.
    2. Look for any red or orange Ally gauges (see screenshot below).  These are indicators of significant barriers for students with disabilities.  Click on the gauge to receive information about the problem.Red and orange Ally gauges
    3. Open the Ally Gauge Inventory and fill out the first three columns only, circled in red below (steps 1-3 on the inventory).  Don’t worry about making any fixes now.  Our goal this week is just to note any red or orange gauges.Only fill out the first three columns of the Ally Gauge Inventory

We’ll use this information to guide our work next week!
