New international students

Required application documents

To finalize your application process, all international students must mail the following required documents to intlapp@dvc.edu (please do not use a @163.com email address):

  • A copy of your passport
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Financial support documents:
    • A bank statement showing:
      • Date
      • Account balance of at least $28,909 (breakdown of fees)
      • English translation
      • Account holder name (name of financial sponsor)
      • Name and physical address of bank
    • If you are a scholarship recipient, please also submit a signed copy of your scholarship letter on official letterhead from your scholarship provider that includes your name and the total amount of scholarships funds you have been awarded.
  • Financial Sponsor Form (not required for self-supporting students)
  • Optional: Student Consent and Release Form

Additional documents for select students

Please send the following additional documents if you fall into one of the categories below:

Students under 18

    • Please note: DVC does not offer high school completion programs. Students must be 18 or a high school graduate by the time they begin classes at DVC. The minimum age to attend DVC as an international student is 16. However, a 16 year old must be considered a high school graduate.
    • Proof of high school graduation requirements
    • Minor Consent Form

Transfer students

  • Copy of I-20. Please note: DVC does not accept terminated I-20s. If your I-20 has been terminated, please email iso@dvc.edu to discuss your options.
  • F1 student visa
  • Copy of most recent I-94
  • Transfer-in Form (Instructions) - Please note: DVC accepts terminated I-20s, however once admitted you must complete the online reinstatement form.

Change of Status

  • Please mark your current visa type (B2, J1, etc.) on the application.
  • Copy of I-94
  • Copy of current visa status (including DS-2019 if applicable)

Please Note: Once you receive an I-20, you will need to file the I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status. Changing your status to F-1 is also possible by leaving the U.S. and applying for your F-1 Visa at your home country’s U.S. Embassy with a new initial I-20 from us. (I-539 application to USCIS is not required for applying for F-1 Visa outside of the U.S.)

Students with dependents (i.e., those bringing a spouse or children)

  • Copy of passport for each dependent
  • Bank statement must include an additional $5000 per dependent
