The 2021 DVC Academic Senate faculty lecturer, Eric Moss, shared some frameworks for mindfulness, social justice, and capitalism and described how the intersection of these frameworks form a humanistic, sustainable, and pragmatic approach for our economic and social recovery.
In March 2021, students from Diablo Valley College participated in the 45th Chinese Mandarin Speech Contest which was held virtually. The contest is hosted by The Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC). CLTAC is the largest nonprofit association of its kind in the country with a mission to promote the study, teaching, and research of the Chinese language and culture on all educational levels. Its annual Mandarin Speech Contest boasts of a long history since 1960s.
This marks the best performance in the school’s history and the best performance on record for any Northern California team at the Phi Rho Pi National Championships. The tournament awards “Gold” award to the top two schools in each entry size category, putting Diablo Valley College (DVC) second overall in the Large School division.
Diablo Valley College Speech and Debate (forensics) is well on their way to another successful season as the team adjusts to the changes brought on by COVID-19. Despite having to adapt to the move to online competition, the team hasn’t missed a beat through the early going of the 2020-2021 season.
