The Student Graduate Speaker offers a two-minute address during the Commencement Ceremony in May and serves as the representative of the entire graduating class. Providing the student address during this important college event is an opportunity for the selected student to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class, reflect upon the past few years, and convey a message for the future. The selected Student Graduate Speaker is required to participate in pre-commencement activities, and will be seated on the main stage during the program.
If you have any questions about the application process or requirements, please email Angela Parris, email@example.com.
For your application you will need to record your speech and upload it to YouTube and include the link to the video. With a free YouTube account, you can go to your personal channel and upload the video. Make sure to post it as "unlisted," not private. Once it uploads you can click on the "Share" icon and copy the URL from your YouTube video (it should have a share icon that copies it easily), and then paste it into the application where it requests the link.
Here is the link on how to record your speech on your smart phone and upload to YouTube and then to Canvas: In the video below, at step #6 in the video, copy the link to your video into the specified field in the student speaker application.
