CNC/CAD Design: Make your part and run a jet engine! The camp is all about "hands on." Use a professional CAD package and learn how to design the impeller. Along the way, learn about "design-for-manufacturability."

Mechatronics: Learn about circuits, solder your board, and program a robocam! Learn about self-driving cars, remotely operated vehicles, and robotic surveillance. Assemble a servo-controlled camera and then program it to operate wirelessly.

Cost:

High school students pay ONLY $2.00 for the two unit class.

College credit:

IDSGN-105-6105: Earn 2 units of college credit and 5 units of high school credit.

Requirements:

Special Admissions Recommendation Form

  • Fill out and have signed by your high school principal before school gets out for summer
  • Hold on to this signed form until you receive an email stating you have been accepted into the Career Academy
  • Once accepted, you will be able to turn in this form starting June 2020 at either the Pleasant Hill or San Ramon Campus
  • Campus Hours: PHC - Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8am -5pm and Tuesday 8am -7pm; SRC - Monday-Thursday 9am -6:30pm *Closed Fridays
Who can apply:

This course is appropriate for students entering grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 for Fall 2020

Notes:

  • DVC does not provide meals; please make sure to pack your own lunch and snacks.
  • Because this class gives college credit, students must attend everyday for the whole time or they may receive a non-passing grade for the class on their college transcript.
