College Success Workshops (CSW) are carefully designed to sharpen your skills, introduce you to campus  resources and services, and provide you with tips and tricks for making each semester successful. The Workshops are open to everyone and they are FREE. These workshops are designed to help students develop academic and life skills, interact with faculty and staff, and build community at DVC.

Many people struggle to achieve their goals for two reasons: 1) Not knowing what their goals are, or 2) Not making a plan to accomplish them.  One powerful way to document and pursue goals is to make a 5 year plan outlining your goals and step-by-step milestones to accomplish them.  In this interactive workshop, we  guide participants through the process of making your very own 5 year plan.  We will also cover strategies to break goals into daily, weekly, monthly and yearly milestones to increase your chances of success.  All  are welcome to attend!

DVC's Year Up program is an intensive, one-year technology-training program for Diablo Valley College students that combines hands-on skill development with professional internships at some of the Bay Area’s top companies. While earning 32 credits during the program, you will be on career tracks in Information Technology or Project Management. During the first term of the program, you will register and take courses with your Year Up Learning Community. In your second term, you will spend approximately 35 hours/week at a professional internship at one of Year Up’s 50+ corporate partners – organizations like Salesforce, Twitter, GE Digital, Workday, and Bank of the West. In this workshop, tools and strategies will be shared to help you reduce stress, stay positive, build confidence, embrace a growth mindset, and overcome challenges. While these strategies are presented from Prof. Erickson's experiences and perspective in STEM, they are relevant to non-STEM majors as well. All are welcome to attend.

In this workshop, you'll learn about various health and wellness methods to help manage stress and stay healthy within your busy schedule. Topics will include meditation and mindfulness, gratitude, positive self-talk, and exercise. We may even practice a few of these! More importantly, we'll discuss ways to sustainably work some self care into our busy daily lives!
