Counseling
Our counselors are committed to serving our students in the pursuit of their academic success and personal growth at Diablo Valley College.
Whether your goal is to obtain an associate degree, transfer to a university, or continue in your own professional development, our counselors will guide you in developing a plan to help you achieve your goals.

Counseling Information
Appointments
We book our Counseling appointments two weeks out.
We are currently out of summer appointments. Students may schedule Fall appointments starting on August 12th for August 29th and 30th and then on August 19th for the week of September 3rd, 2024. For appointment inquiries call the Pleasant Hill Counseling Office at 925-969-2140 (Monday - Thursday after 9 am) or the San Ramon Campus Counseling Office at 925-551-6209.
- If you have transcripts from another college or exam scores you wish to have evaluated, please call our office at 925-969-2140.
- If you want to clear a prerequisite requirement for a class you wish to take, please submit a prerequisite form online through the Admissions and Records Office.
Drop-In
We offer in-person and virtual (zoom remote) drop-in sessions.
- To sign up for a virtual drop-in session, use the Online Appointment System or call to be added to the drop-in list.
- For in-person drop-in, call or check in at the Counseling Office on the second floor of the Student Services Building, we recommend calling in advance to confirm hours and ensure availability.

Students needing to appeal their Financial Aid due to Maximum Time Frame, and students in need of transcript evaluation, please call the Counseling Office for assistance, these appointments cannot be booked using the Online Appointment System.
High school students, please contact your high school counselor or principal's office. If you just graduated from high school, sign up for Couns 95: Educational Planning for New Students to meet with a counselor before the fall semester begins.
Types of counseling
Drop-in
For quick check-ins about DVC deadlines, procedures, major, or program information.
Wellness
For short-term personal counseling for currently registered students to get support with stress, relationships, grief, depression or anxiety symptoms, and more.
Specialized
For athletes, international students, veterans, and members of certain student groups including EOPS and DSS.
Academic Counseling
We offer 45-minute counseling appointments both in-person and through phone or Zoom.

Meet with a Counselor
Please Note: Athletes, veterans, students needing to appeal their Financial Aid due
to the Maximum Time Frame, and students with records from other colleges in need of
Transcript Evaluation, please call our office at 925-969-2140.
Drop-in Counseling
We offer in-person, zoom, and phone drop-in sessions, to meet with a counselor for 10-15 minutes on a first come first served basis.
To sign up for a zoom or phone drop-in session, select Meet with a Counselor below. Your counselor will contact you through your primary email (set up or update your contact information in the Insite portal, under the Settings tile), by text, or by phone.
In-Person drop-ins are available at the Counseling Center, days and times vary, please call the Counseling Office to verify availability: 925-969-2140. If you plan to come in the afternoon/evening, call our office before you leave work/home to check availability and waiting time.
Wellness Counseling
Our counselors are here for you. Please fill out this referral form and one of our counselors will contact you.

Specialized Counseling
- For Disability Support Services (DSS) appointments, fill out the counseling appointment request form available on the Disability Support Services page.
- For EOPS Counseling appointments, there are multiple scheduling options, please see all the options on the EOPS/CARE page.
- For International Students, use the International Student Counseling Appointment System
- For all other student groups, select the Meet with a Counselor button, select Make Appointment, then choose the type of counselor designated for your student group or choose All Counselors. If you do not see availability or would like assistance scheduling an appointment please call 925-969-2140 for assistance.

Holiday closures
Diablo Valley College and the DVC Counseling Office will be closed on the following dates:
- September 2nd
- October 11th
- November 11th
- November 28th and 29th
Transcripts
DVC accepts transcripts from institutions (e.g., colleges, universities, and high schools) currently recognized by regional accrediting organizations as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you need a transcript evaluation for your counseling appointment, call our office 925-969-2140.
Current High School Students
Appointments are not available for students currently enrolled in high school. We do offer Counseling 095 class for graduating high school seniors to plan out their classes prior to the next term.
